asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many people have been burned to death, or died from burns received, in how many fires in the county of Lanark between January, 1945, and January, 1956 and what was the average time which elapsed before the fire-brigade arrived on the scene.

In the period between 1st January, 1945, and 31st January, 1956, there were 45 fatal casualties resulting from 25 fire incidents in the area of the Lanarkshire Fire Brigade Joint Commit. tee. The average time which elapsed between receipt of the fire call and arrival of the first appliance at the incident was eight minutes.
