HC Deb 21 February 1956 vol 549 c15W
67. Mr. Collick

asked the Minister of Labour how many vacant places for the training of disabled men are now not in use at the Wallasey Remploy Factory; how long these vacant places have remained unused; and how many disabled men and women on Merseyside are awaiting training in Remploy factories.

Mr. Iain Macleod

There is capacity for 65 disabled workers at the Wallasey Remploy Factory, but the precise number who can be absorbed at any time depends on the needs of production. In December. 1955, there were 55 workers in employment and there are 58 at present. On 16th January, 1956, there were 116 men and 17 women in the Merseyside Development Area who could be considered for employment at Wallasey and Bootle Remploy factories.
