HC Deb 17 February 1956 vol 548 c297W
Mr. Hastings

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many tests for alcohol in the urine were carried out in the combined police laboratories in 1955; in how many of these was the individual concerned charged with driving under the influence; and in how many of these last was it estimated that .05 per cent. or more of alcohol was present in the blood.

Major Lloyd-George

The latest records are for 1954, when 1,020 tests were made, and 964 of the persons concerned were prosecuted for offences under Section 15 of the Road Traffic Act, 1930. As to the last part of the Question, I regret that there is no information readily available.
