Captain Kerby

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food the purpose and cost of the recent official demonstration by pest officers at Marks Hall, Coggeshall, Essex; how many pest officers and how many farmers attended; and why a fully licensed bar was installed at this function.

The main purpose was to demonstrate up-to-date methods of scrub clearance; the cost to my Department was approximately £40 four pests officers were on duty on both days of the demonstration which was attended by about 100 farmers; the licensed bar was installed without charge to my Department for the convenience of those attending the demonstration.
