HC Deb 15 February 1956 vol 548 c274W
103. Mr. Awbery

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation if he will, in view of the achievement of three helicopters in bringing 41 shipwrecked men ashore from the stranded tanker "Dovrefjell" off the Orkney coast, consider the advisability of establishing a series of State helicopter life-saving stations around the coast to supplement the lifeboat service.

Mr. Watkinson

A service such as the hon. Member has in mind is already in being. Royal Naval and Royal Air Force helicopters stationed around the coast form an integral part of the rescue organisation.
