HC Deb 15 February 1956 vol 548 c263W
78. Mr. Teeling

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he will make a statement on the Referendum in Malta.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

The voting in the referendum, in which 59.12 per cent. of those on the electoral register voted, to determine whether or not the Maltese people were in favour of proposals submitted by the Maltese Government, was as follows:

Yes 67,607 votes
No 20,177 votes
Not Valid 2,599 votes

The House will no doubt wish to study these results and take them into account together with all other relevant factors when it debates the Report of the Round Table Conference.
