asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what is the total figure by which farm land and farm buildings in England and Wales are de-rated.

Mr. Powell

The Local Government Act, 1929, exempted agricultural land and buildings from rates and since then they have not been valued for rating. My right hon. Friend cannot therefore say what is the value of the exemption.

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will now make a statement regarding the abolition of the de-rating of industry.
