HC Deb 09 February 1956 vol 548 c207W
Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Minister of Labour if he is aware of the trade dispute which has arisen at Smithfield Market arising out of the refusal of the union concerned to allow meat to be carried away except by bummarees; and what action he is taking.

Mr. Iain Macleod

I am of course aware of recent events in Smithfield Market, but I am not aware of any trade dispute between employers and their employees. I shall continue to watch the position and, if a situation arises in which my Department can give assistance, it will be ready to do so.
