§ 3. Mr. Russellasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation what progress has been made with the examination of the possibility of widening the carriageways of London streets which have unnecessarily wide pavements.
§ Mr. MolsonThe examination promised on 23rd November by the last Minister has been carried out and has shown that there are only a very limited number of sites where widening of the carriageway at the expense of existing wide pavements would assist through traffic on congested roads. The responsible highway authorities have already taken the possibilities into account in drawing up their road programmes.
