HC Deb 02 February 1956 vol 548 c130W
64. Mr. F. Willey

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in what circumstances 1,398 tons of cheese, valued £210,260, had to be condemned.

Mr. Nugent

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given on 14th February last to the hon. Member for Erith and Crayford (Mr. Dodds) for an explanation of the circumstances in which 900 tons of Cheshire cheese became unfit for human consumption. In addition, 400 tons of Cheddar cheese deteriorated after grading owing to the contamination of the water supply of the two creameries in which the cheese was made.
