HC Deb 02 February 1956 vol 548 c140W
Mr. Viant

asked the Minister of Health, in the inquiries which have been made into the illness of a large number of babies at Liverpool and other towns in recent weeks, in how many cases it has been ascertained whether these infants had been recently vaccinated or inoculated.

Mr. Turton

During the recent outbreak of respiratory illness 125 infants under one year were observed in hospital in Sunderland. Thirteen had been vaccinated against smallpox, three had been immunised against diphtheria, one had been both vaccinated and immunised and one had been inoculated with B.C.G. vaccine. Similar information is not available for Liverpool.
