§ Mr. Bennasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty on what date the combined communications exercise, held at the end of October, for the Cyprus area, was planned; and why it was not cancelled when the Israeli mobilisation took place on 26th October, when Her Majesty's Government became finally aware of the imminence of hostilities.

The proposal to hold a combined communications exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean at the end of October was approved on 12th October. The news of the Israeli mobilisation was not considered to be a reason for cancelling the exercise.
