§ 39. Mr. Fellasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will give an assurance that the Government will press for the retention of the United Nations Force in the area of the Suez Canal until such time as the future of the Canal as an international waterway is assured.
§ 65. Mr. Fortasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what information he has now received from the Secretary-General of the United Nations whether the United Nations Expeditionary Force will be kept in the Canal Zone until arrangements have been made for the international control of the Suez Canal which will safeguard free passage from being interfered with by the Egyptian Government.
§ Mr. Selwyn LloydAmong the tasks for which we consider the United Nations force responsible, is to assist in the creation of conditions for carrying out the Assembly's resolutions, including that urging the restoration of secure freedom of navigation. The positioning of the force must be a matter for the United Nations Commander.
