§ 22. Mr. F. M. Bennettasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will request the Bank of England to encourage the provision of credit facilities to retail traders in order to allow them to finance the increased stocks to be held by them consequent upon the delays and less frequent deliveries which will be occasioned by the restrictions upon petrol and oil for those travelling and for those delivering goods to retail outlets.
§ Mr. H. MacmillanNo. As far as overdrafts are concerned it is for the banks to say where credit should be given. I have no doubt that they take all circumstances into account when they consider any request from a trader who finds himself in need of additional facilities.
