§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftIn the first nine months of 1956, 19,730 tons of synthetic rubber were used in the tyre industry, and 1,154 tons in the cable industry. Separate statistics for consumption in the cable aircraft industry are not available. Since synthetic rubber is not yet produced in this country on a commercial scale it may be assumed that virtually all this rubber was imported.
