Mr. Hirstasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress has been made in his review of the film industry; whether he will give an assurance that the additional burdens which are likely 80W to be placed upon the exhibitors under the provisions of the legislation foreshadowed in the Gracious Speech will be taken into consideration when revising the entertainments tax; and whether he will make a statement.
§ Mr. H. BrookeThe provisions of the Cinematograph Films Bill are amongst the various factors which are being taken into consideration in the review of the Entertainments Duty. Any alteration in the duty would, however, be a matter for a Budget, and I could not make a statement at the present time.
