HC Deb 12 December 1956 vol 562 cc47-8W
63. Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that four African members of the Northern Rhodesian Legislative Council voted in favour of a Motion proposed by one of their number, Mr. L. H. Ngandu, Northern Province, calling for a review of the 1890 Treaties between the British South Africa Company and the Northern Rhodesian African chiefs; and what action he is taking in this regard.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

Yes; but the Governor of Northern Rhodesia has not made any representations to me. The Motion was negatived by the votes of the other twenty members present and voting.
