HL Deb 12 December 1956 vol 200 cc1117-8WA
THE DUKE OF SUTHERLAND

asked Her Majesty's Government whether, in view of the reported agreement between the Scottish Landowners' Federation, the Nature Conservancy and the National Farmers' Union, the Close Season and Poaching Bill for Deer will now go forward: and, if so, when it is expected that this action will be taken.

THE MINISTER OF STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (LORD STRATHCLYDE)

A joint report on the Control of Deer has recently been submitted to the Secretary of State for Scotland by the Nature Conservancy, The Scottish Landowners' Federation, The British Field Sports Society (Scotland), The National Farmers' Union of Scotland, and The Blackface Sheep Breeders' Association. The Government are considering this report but it is not possible at this stage to say whether or when they may be able to introduce legislation on the subject.

House adjourned at twenty-five minutes past eight o'clock.
