HC Deb 12 December 1956 vol 562 c53W
Mr. Allaun

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what proportion of the proposed £10 million development programme of the Barbados Government will be subsidised by the United Kingdom Government; and what proportion by private investment.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

£724,000 has been made available under the Colonial Development and Welfare Act to the Barbados Government to finance projects in its 1955–1960 development programme. It is hoped that about £4-5 million will be invested by the public in loans raised in Barbados and London. The balance of about £5 million will be found by the Barbados Government.
