HL Deb 06 December 1956 vol 200 cc839-40WA
EARL DE LA WARR

asked Her Majesty's Government whether they have any statement to make on the appointment of a committee to advise on the acquisition and disposal of bloodstock by the National Stud.

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY, MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES AND FOOD (EARL ST.ALDWYN)

My Lords, as recommended by the committee on National Stud policy and methods of operation my right honourable friend has appointed a standing committee to advise him on all proposals for the acquisition and disposal of bloodstock (other than sales of yearlings and foals) by the National Stud. My noble friend the Duke of Norfolk has consented to act as Chairman of the committee, and the other members will be Mr. M. W. Wickham-Boynton and Mr. Jack Jarvis. My right honourable friend wishes it to be made clear that the members of the committee will have no responsibility for the general policy of the Stud or for its day-to-day operations.

House adjourned at twenty-two minutes before five o'clock.
