HC Deb 05 December 1956 vol 561 c144W
Mr. Jay

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he proposes to take to halt the present fall in industrial production.

Mr. Walker-Smith

Total industrial production in the first ten months of this year was slightly higher than in the corresponding period of last year. Some fall in production for the home market by certain industries was the necessary consequence of the measures taken to restrain home demand earlier this year.
