HC Deb 04 December 1956 vol 561 cc111-2W
Mr. Wade

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will now instruct the representative of Her Majesty's Government at the United Nations to recommend that an international constabulary force be recruited by individual recruitment and that such force be permanently available for duties under the authority of the United Nations Secretary General.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

Her Majesty's Government are not aware of any current proposal for the formation of a directly recruited United Nations constabulary, whether combatant or non-combatant. They do not propose for the present to make any such proposal or to reopen discussion on such proposals of this nature as have previously been considered in the United Nations.
