§ 63. Mr. Redheadasked the Minister of Labour whether he will now make a further statement as to staffing economies in his Department; and, in particular, whether he will state the number by which the staffs of local offices are to be reduced and in what manner it is proposed to effect such reduction.
§ Mr. Iain MacleodThe economies which I outlined in the Answer I gave to the hon. Member on 24th July have so far resulted in a saving of about 900 staff of whom 700 were at local offices. It is estimated that a further saving of about 1,100 will be made by the end of 1957 including about 600 at local offices. These reductions are the result of the various measures I have already announced.
