HC Deb 03 December 1956 vol 561 c91W
95. Mr. Healey

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Her Majesty's Government's policy concerning the recent decision of the Libyan Government to revise its treaty with Great Britain.

Mr. Dodds-Parker

Her Majesty's Government have noted the statement in the speech from the Throne to the Libyan Parliament that the Libyan Government intendto review Libyan obligations under the Treaty of Alliance with the United Kingdom.

We have not so far received any official proposal on this subject from the Libyan Government. We are already engaged in discussing with the Libyan Government, in a friendly spirit, the interpretation and manner of executing certain clauses in the Treaty.
