Mr. Haymanasked the Minister of Health whether he will institute an inquiry to ascertain to what extent mental hospitals are unable to honour the 5s. a week pocket money for patients authorised by paragraph 4 of Health Circular HMC(49)20, dated 14th February, 1949, because of inadequate finances;
(2) whether he will increase the pocket money for patients in mental hospitals by an amount sufficient to bring it up to the equivalent of the 5s. authorised in 1949.
