HC Deb 02 August 1956 vol 557 c202W
64. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in view of the hardship and inconvenience caused to mothers discharged from Newport Maternity Home, Fife, by having to travel long distances home by public service transport, he will now take steps to ensure that all mothers, on discharge from maternity hospitals, shall be provided with ambulance service.

Mr. J. Stuart

As my hon. Friend the Joint Under-Secretary explained in the debate on 17th July last, the provision of an ambulance is a matter for the decision of the doctor in charge of the case, taking all factors into account.
