HC Deb 02 August 1956 vol 557 cc202-3W
Major Wall

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether he is aware of the importance of the Commander-in-Chief retaining his present accommodation in Malta; and how long Admiralty House in Malta has been occupied by the Royal Navy.

Mr. Wingfield Digby

It is important that the Commander-in-Chief should continue to have a suitable residence. Admiralty House, Malta, has been the traditional home of the Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean for 135 years. The lease expires next December. Every effort is being made to negotiate a renewal of the lease with the Malta Government.
