HL Deb 01 August 1956 vol 199 c558WA
LORD MILNER OF LEEDS

asked Her Majesty's Government whether they are aware of the continuing delays in registration at the Land Registry and of the inconvenience and hardship frequently caused thereby and whether they will state the average time taken to effect registration during the year 1955.

THE LORD CHANCELLOR

I am aware of the delays in the Land Registry, and I am glad to state that they are being satisfactorily reduced. The following table shows the average number of working days taken to complete first registrations of title and to register dealings in registered land respectively throughout the year 1955 and in the month of Stine of this year:—

most cases registration merely records a completed transaction and the time occupied by the process does not normally inconvenience the public.

House adjourned at twenty-nine minutes past four o'clock.
