§ 41. Mr. Sorensenasked the Minister of Education, in view of the serious difficulties arising in the county of Essex due to lack of adequate and suitable school accommodation to meet the increase in the child population, whether his Department is still insisting on the deferment of part of the county's school building programme.
§ Mr. VosperMy right hon. Friend recognises the problems facing the Essex Authority and has approved a school building programme of £2½ million for 1956–57, together with a reserve list of half that value. The Authority has been encouraged to press ahead with the planning of the new schools in both the main and reserve programmes.
