asked the Minister of Works the current maintenance grant to the British Museum Library.

During 1954–55, the latest year for which the information is available, £59,000 was spent by my Department on the maintenance of the British Museum building. It would take a very great deal of work to separate even approximately the expenditure on the Library alone, from that on the rest of the building.
