HC Deb 16 April 1956 vol 551 c49W
62. Mr. Russell

asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation why the traffic lights at the Lambeth end of Lambeth Bridge, S.E.1, are to be replaced by a roundabout, in view of the congestion which occurs in peak hours at the roundabout at the Westminster end of the bridge.

Mr. Molson

These traffic lights are being replaced by a roundabout in order to ease traffic flow and reduce congestion. Although the roundabout at the Westminster end of the bridge does run to capacity at peak periods, I do not think that there is serious congestion of traffic there.
