HC Deb 16 April 1956 vol 551 c45W
56. Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance what steps he has taken to ensure that all doctors in coal mining areas receive copies of his Department's publication, entitled "Pneumoconiosis: Procedure for Claiming Benefit", and are conversant with its contents.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

My regional offices with the help of the local county and county borough executive councils try to ensure that copies of this booklet are sent to all doctors in coal mining areas, but any doctor can obtain a copy by writing to my Department.

57. Mr. Swingler

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance to what extent doctors who serve on pneumoconiosis medical boards are also serving on medical appeal tribunals.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

None of the doctors who serve on pneumoconiosis medical boards is a member of a medical appeal tribunal under the Industrial injuries Act.
