BrookeDetails are given below of nine pictures purchased by the National Gallery since 1945, and of the extent to which they were financed, in whole or in part, either from the normal grant-in-aid of purchases or by means of special Exchequer grants. In general it is not the practice of the National Gallery Trustees to disclose the prices paid for individual pictures.
