asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty if he is aware that the Aberdeen-built research ship "Sir William Hardy" is the first British trawler to be electrically propelled; and what steps are being taken to apply this technique to other fishing trawlers.

Yes. Although the use of this method of propulsion is a matter for the trawler owners themselves, the technical assistance of the Admiralty is always available to the shipbuilding and marine engineering industry, should they require it. There are other orders in hand in British yards for diesel-electric trawlers.
