§ 99. Mr. Awberyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he is aware of the success of the visits of the Royal Navy to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and the Soviet Navy to this country in creating better understanding and promoting goodwill between the two nations; and if he will extend this principle by arranging to send delegations of workmen from our main industries on similar missions and invite the Soviet Government to do the same.
§ Mr. TurtonThe recent exchange of naval visits with the Soviet Union was clearly a success. My right hon. Friend shares the hon. Member's desire to promote better understanding and goodwill between ourselves and the Soviet peoples. He believes that this can be achieved by increasing contact between the two peoples at every level. The choice of particular delegations is, however, not a matter in which Her Majesty's Government should interfere.
