HC Deb 24 November 1955 vol 546 c134W
8. Mr. Remnant

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether he is satisfied that the licensing of pedigree boars only is in the best interests of pork and bacon production; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Amory

The Howitt Committee on Pig Production has recommended that the Government should seek the necessary power to limit licences to pedigree boars. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland and I are considering this recommendation in consultation with the interests concerned.
