HC Deb 21 November 1955 vol 546 c83W
109. Air Commodore Harvey

asked the Minister of Health how many motorised invalid chairs are available in the Macclesfield district for loan to disabled persons while their own vehicles undergo repairs; and whether he is satisfied that the number is adequate for the demand.

Mr. Iain Macleod

Macclesfield draws spare machines as required from Manchester, where there is a pool of 39 machines. In view of the difficulties in one case to which my hon. and gallant Friend has drawn my attention, I am looking into the position and will write to him.

114. Mr. Hale

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that under the present regulations mobile invalid carriages cannot be provided to disabled persons who have retired from work; and whether he will reconsider the whole position with regard to such vehicles.

Mr. Iain Macleod

No; if a person is otherwise eligible retirement makes no difference.
