§ 101. Mr. J. Johnsonasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he is aware that there is continuing anxiety in Mauritius over the question of land 41W tenure, and that numbers of Metayers are being evicted every year; and whether he will introduce legislation in this matter.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI am aware that the Government of Mauritius is considering the complex problem of land tenure in the Colony and particularly the system of Metayage. The introduction of any legislation which might be considered necessary would of course be a matter for that Government.
