HC Deb 14 November 1955 vol 546 cc4-5W
54. Mr. N. Pannell

asked the Minister of Health if he is aware that in the Liverpool region there are two mental hospitals which collectively have 350 beds vacant through lack of staff; and if he is satisfied that the same difficulty will not arise in connection with the new accommodation envisaged at Greaves Hall.

Mr. Iain Macleod

My information is that the number of vacant beds is not 350 but 114. There may well be difficulty in staffing Greaves Hall, but I am hopeful that with the help of my right non. and learned Friend the Minister of Labour and National Service, the regional hospital board will succeed in overcoming the difficulty.
