§ 44. Brigadier Clarkeasked the Minister of Fuel and Power what estimate the Fuel Research Office has made of the saving of domestic fuel that could be made if cinders were regularly sifted in all households.
§ Mr. Geoffrey LloydIn 1951 it was estimated that each year household cinders contained ¾ million tons of burnable coal. Since then no further estimate has been made but the quantity must have decreased substantially on account of the increased use of improved appliances which burn coal more efficiently. Moreover much of the burnable coal in cinders is recovered and used.
