HC Deb 14 November 1955 vol 546 cc3-4W
52. Air Commodore Harvey

asked the Minister of Supply what British civil aircraft his Department is sponsoring with approximately the same performance as the Boeing 707 and Douglas D.C.8, to be available in the future to compete with these aircraft.

Mr. Maudling

None at present. British Overseas Airways Corporation considers that its requirements until well into the 1960s will be met by the aircraft already on order. I am in close touch with my right hon. Friend the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation and the Corporation about their longer-term needs.
