Mr. Sorensenasked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, in view of the uncertainty and perturbation of the Leyton Borough Council in respect of the Ruckholt Road bridge and road improvement and the necessity for reconstruction in that immediate area, whether 189W he will expedite issue of the grant towards this project; and what is the reason for the delay.
§ Mr. Boyd-CarpenterWork is being carried out by the British Transport Commission on Ruckholt Road Bridge, and no question of grant arises. So far as approach road is concerned, the Leyton Borough Council informed my Department the day before yesterday that the estimated cost had risen by about 20 per cent. I understand that a revised grant application is likely to be submitted soon and when this is done, if it is in order, it will be granted.
