HC Deb 09 November 1955 vol 545 c198W
103. Mr. Iremonger

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the less exacting demands on Service manpower, he will arrange that the call-up of men engaged in export industries be granted deferment in suitable cases.

Sir W. Monckton

No. Two years' deferment of call-up is already granted to ex-apprentices employed on certain highly skilled engineering and shipbuilding work of particular importance to exports, and I cannot see my way to extend this arrangement.
