asked the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation whether his attention has been drawn to the rapidly growing practice of motorists obscuring their vision by affixing to their windscreens pennants advertising the seaside resorts they have visited; whether he is satisfied that the existing law is adequate to deal with this dangerous practice; and whether he will make a statement.

Yes. This dangerous practice is sometimes contrary to Regulation 75 of the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations.

the number is divided between those with C licences, those engaged in private haulage and those operated by the Road Haulage Executive.

Enforcement of the law is, of course, a matter for the police. I am considering whether amendment of the Regulations is necessary.
