HC Deb 02 November 1955 vol 545 cc123-4W
Mr. D. Howell

asked the Minister of Education whether he is aware that a large volume of public opinion in Birmingham is opposed to the proposed change of status of the Birmingham Blue Coat School to a fee-paying school; when he intends to invite public objections to the proposals in accordance with legal requirements; and why a public advertisement for a new headmaster for the proposed fee-paying school was inserted in "The Times Educational Supplement" of 14th October, 1955, before objections had been invited or considered.

Sir D. Eccles

The draft scheme, a copy of which I am sending to the hon. Member, was published in the prescribed manner on 22nd October, 1955. The public notice explains when and how those interested may comment on the scheme. The advertisement for a new headmaster is not my responsibility.
