§ Mr. Pageasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government (1) to what extent the slum-clearance programme of a local authority in any one year is taken into consideration by him in fixing the number of dwellings which that local authority should submit for approval during that year;
(2) to what extent, in fixing the number of dwellings which a local authority should submit for approval during any one year, he takes into consideration the slum-clearance programmes of neighbouring local authorities.
§ Mr. SandysWhere information is available, slum clearance is one of the factors taken into account when allocations are made. But it will not be possible to obtain a balanced view of local authorities' housing requirements for slum clearance until they have all submitted their proposals under Section 1 of the Housing Repairs and Rents Act, 1954. They have until the end of August to do this.
