HC Deb 04 May 1955 vol 540 c119W
4. Mr. George Craddock

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many of the 4,200 prisoners working at Embakazi airport in Kenya are convicted prisoners, detainees from a detention camp and detainees from a special detention camp, respectively; what wage they are being paid; how this conforms with the standard wage of the area; and if they are volunteers for this work.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

They are all convicts serving sentences of imprisonment. The remaining parts of the Question do not, therefore, arise.
