HL Deb 03 May 1955 vol 192 cc715-6WA
LORD MACPHERSON OF DRUMOCHTER

asked Her Majesty's Government if they have any further progress to report regarding the completion of a Treaty of Trade and Friendship with Ethiopia, an announcement about which was referred to by the Minister of State, Foreign Office, in the debate on the international situation in this House on the 29th July, 1954.

THE JOINT PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE FOR THE HOME DEPARTMENT (LORD MANCROFT)

Informal discussions on the draft treaty took place in London in November and December, 1954. Since then, both sides have been examining the various questions which arose in these discussions and a memorandum setting out the further views of the Ethiopian representatives has just been received here and is at present being considered.

House adjourned at twenty minutes before four o'clock.
