§ 92. Lieut.-Colonel Liptonasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will introduce legislation to require that furniture in furnished let-tings shall be equivalent in value to at least one year's rent for such lettings.
§ Mr. SandysA letting is reckoned as furnished for the purposes of the Rent Restriction Acts if that part of the rent 173W of the dwellings which is fairly attributable to the use of the furniture forms a substantial portion of the whole rent. I doubt whether there would be any advantage in replacing this definition, which leaves a discretion to the courts, with the more rigid formula suggested in the Question.
