HC Deb 02 March 1955 vol 537 cc271-2W
62. Mr. Walker-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he is satisfied that the Government farm guards are, in regard to training, equipment, and other relevant respects, competent to safeguard small farmsteads in the affected area of Kenya, and particularly in the district of Laikipia; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lennox-Boyd

A scheme to reorganise and strengthen the Farm Guard, which includes courses of military and police training began in December and will be completed in March. I understand that in the Laikipia district the spirit of guards and labour on the farms is particularly good.
